- Wearable art
- Laser cut from poplar ply timber
- Natural timber with hand painted detail
This statement neck piece is inspired by the iconic 'Great Wave off Kanagawa' woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai from the 1830's.
It is made up of 3 layers of poplar ply timber, each piece is given a blue-wash paint finish before having the intricate line work of the waves engraved. The white tips have all been hand painted, a tedious task, but a labour of love.
The necklace is finished with stainless steel findings and hangs on a soft and comfortable 100% cotton cord.
The piece comes packaged in a recycled craft gift box with cotton fill.
Details:
Measures 14cm across and about 11cm at its highest point.
Gift box measures 18cm x 14cm x 2.5cm.
Please note - Being a natural timber product, colour and grain may vary from piece to piece. The natural grain of the timber can be seen through the light blue-washing making each piece unique and special.

Each piece of Burbridge and Burke jewellery is handmade in our Nelson Bay studio on the east coast of NSW Australia.
All of our laser cutting is done in house on our trusty Trotec laser machine 'Larry'. This guarantees we get a beautiful, crisp finish on all of our engraving and cutting.
Assembly, hand painting and finishing is all completed by the two of us here in our studio.
CARE
As with any piece of jewellery, we recommend you treat your necklace with care.
Keep the piece dry & free from creams, cosmetics and body products.
The timber has been sealed and will withstand getting caught in the rain, however we recommend trying not to get your necklace wet. Don't wear it in the shower or swimming.
